What have we been up to in Nursery?
Spring Term 2020
Chinese New Year - The children in Nursery have had a lovely week exploring Chinese New Year. They have listened to stories, dressed up, explored various food in the kitchen, made salt dough tea lamps, lanterns and masks! They loved doing a dragon dance and making up our own dance to the music. What a busy week!
We have been exploring Jack’s interest in volcanoes, researched them in books and watched the recent volcanic eruption on the news, built our own in the workshop, made paper mache volcanoes and playdough volcanoes and made our own volcano eruption experiment! Jack wore his gloves when he made the volcano because the ‘lava’ was hot!
Outdoors we have been making a Gruffalo cafe where the children have been thinking about what materials they could use to make Gruffalo Tea and Gruffalo Crumble! Anybody for tea!
This week Jack and his friends finished the paper mache volcano. They studied the colours of a volcano in a non fiction book and then painted it. The volcano is now on display in Nursery. It looks fabulous!
Reading event - Thank you to the parents and children who attended the reading event.
We have had Isabella’s puppy come to visit after she was so excited to tell us all about his arrival at Christmas. We have been talking all about animals around the world and how to look after them and care for them linked with the Australian bush fires too. The children loved Pablo the puppy’s visit!
