Coronavirus Update 09/04/20

9 April 2020 (by Vicky)

A letter from Mrs O'Rourke.

Dear Parents, carers and children,

This is possibly the strangest Easter letter I have ever written.

Usually I would have written this letter a week ago but as I have been in school, it doesn’t even feel like the end of term. It would have said have a lovely holiday, don’t eat too much chocolate and don’t wear bows in the new term but not this year. This is a newsletter like no other, written in the strangest of times.

I want to start by saying that I hope you are all well, staying in and staying safe.

If your children are struggling to understand all this, there are resources on the website to help you explain. It is difficult for us as adults to comprehend fully the scale of this global emergency.

This is technically a holiday so don’t worry about school work over the next week or so just enjoy family time and being together.

Once back in work mode the staff are adding to the year group pages on the website so that there will always something to do. Keep looking. I know there has been some problems with the websites but that has tended to be internet issues rather than the school links.

I would like to thank the many parents/carers for the very positive comments we have had for the way he have handled the crisis, adding work on the website and for the information provided, however we have still had some complaints about what we have done. Even when the world is in crisis Sugar Hill still can’t get things right for some people!

The staff and I are missing being at school as normal, missing the hustle and bustle of the school day and the wonderful buzz the children make. School really isn’t the same without you all.

I just hope that if we all follow the rules then it won’t be too long before we are back to normal life and moaning because we have to get up for school or work.

I want to wish you all a very happy Easter weekend, stay in, follow the rules and stay safe.

I might not be the queen but I know we will meet again soon!

Mrs Paula O’Rourke
