Newsletter Friday 7th May

10 May 2021 (by Vicky)

Hello everyone, the end of another week, if not a little shorter than usual.
I will start with a huge thank you for your donations for the “100 things for Captain Tom”. We made £212 altogether.
We have decided to send half of the money to charity and use half to complete our Reflection Garden in the middle of the school. This has been ongoing but has come to a standstill through the pandemic.
It will include painted stones to make a rainbow, wooden benches and rainbow plants. This will provide a space for the children to use and to help with the garden.

Morning Club
Thank you for taking part in the Survey for initial interest in the Morning Club.
This is very helpful for staff as we plan how this will work.
The Morning Club will not open before May Half term. I plan to trial this around the June 21st date, once everything is open again.
I will keep you updated as to the plans in place as soon as possible. I do understand that this is an important part of the service we offer for many parents/carers but we do still want to do everything in the safest way possible. We have come too far to put this at risk in any way.
Thank you again for your patience in this matter and for your support throughout the whole pandemic in any decision I have made in order to keep safety at the very top of my agenda.

Parent/Carer Phone calls
As we will not be having face to face Parent/Carer meetings this term, during the next two weeks, from Monday 10th May, you will be receiving a phone call from the staff in your child’s class to discuss their progress and how they have settled back into school after lockdown. This will last a maximum of 10 minutes.
If you prefer a specific time please email your child’s teacher through DB Primary or through a Tapestry message. Please do not call the office about booking progress phone calls, staff keep their own timetable of appointments.
Please do not email before Monday 10th May.

Parking/dropping off on zig zag lines
I would just like to point out that dropping children off on the zig zag lines is as illegal as parking.
There are still parents/carers who think this is ok because the car has not stopped. Please do not do this, it is dangerous to the children and parents/carers around and to other drivers. It really only takes one child to walk into the road around a car that has stopped illegally to cause an accident. Please consider how you would feel if it was your child. I can not stress this enough.
Thank you to the very vast majority of parents/carers who are doing the right thing.
