Newsletter - Friday 9th July 2021

9 July 2021 (by Vicky)

Dear Parents/carers

Hello everyone.

I am writing this and can’t quite believe we are going into the last full week of term!

What a year! There are no words to describe the roller coaster we have been on, especially over the last three weeks.

I want to start with a huge thank you for your support in everything we have done since March 2020. It has meant such a lot to me and the staff.

Plans have been put in place for many things that have to be cancelled or changed and next week is no exception.

Transition

We had planned on doing 4 days transition for all children. However, class 14 and class 9 are now isolating and other staff and children are away from school.

I have decided that we will not go ahead with the planned transition. The children will get to know their next teacher when reports come out on Monday 12TH July.

During next week their new classroom staff will meet the children through Teams to say hello. This means staff and children are not crossing “bubbles”.

Everything in school will be different in September and the first two weeks in September will be used as a settling in time.

Colour Run

I have also decided that this will now take place in September, during the first two weeks. This will make sure that not only are we safe but all children will be back to enjoy it.

September – COVID SYSTEMS STAYING

As already stated in previous letters the staggered start times and finish times will remain in September. The children coming in this way are coming in very settled and ready to learn. Please note dropping off time has been shortened by 5 minutes.

The lining up system will also remain. Staff will collect the children at their arrival entrance.

Entrances and times for September 2021

Nursery will arrive and leave at their usual time and entrance.

Reception times have been sent in letters directly to parents/carers

New Year 1 will arrive at Entrance C at 8.45am- 8.55am Finish time- 3.00pm (slightly different from Transition Information previously sent)

New Year 2 will arrive at Entrance C at 8.55am-9.05am Finish time – 3.10pm

New Year 3 will arrive at Entrance B at 8.55am-9.05am Finish time 3.20pm

New Year 4 will arrive at Entrance B at 8.45am-8.55am Finish time 3.10pm

New Year 5 will arrive at Entrance A at 8.55am-9.05am Finish time 3.20pm

New Year 6 will arrive at Entrance A at 8.45am-8.55am Finish time 3.10pm

I am also going to keep the routines for going home. This has worked very well, especially the one-way system for Year 1, 2 and Nursery. The staff are able to see exactly where the children are going and who with. Hopefully with no masks!!

We are also keeping the staggered playtimes and lunchtimes we have in place. They too are working so well, as is the system for parents emailing and ringing with any queries.

I am sure we will be able to get back to face to face parent/carer events and meetings.

On return to school in September the whole school are following the book, “It’s Our World” for the first two weeks. During this time the children will be doing lots of art and really getting to know their new class.

When September arrives the rules for sending children home with a positive COVID test will change.

The children will be sitting in groups of 4 wherever possible and therefore I will only be sending that child and their group home. This means that whole classes will not miss out on face to face time in school.

Curriculum

We have changed the way we are teaching our Curriculum from September.

Maths and Literacy will, for now, stay on a morning. The rest of the subjects will be taught through projects that are based around a book, global theme, the children’s experiences and the community.

There will be lots of information coming out in September and the website will be updated too. Staff have spent a long-time planning this and I know it’s all going to be very exciting.

We really do have a lot to look forward to and hopefully coming back in September to a much more normal way of life.

Please email or ring school with any questions.

I understand that this has been a different year but I am so hopeful that things will change.

More information will be shared before the end of term and before you return in September.

The children are back on Thursday September 2nd 2021

Thank you for your continued support at this time. It really is greatly appreciated.

Football Alert

As the football is on until late on Sunday night and you may be glad of a lie in, I am allowing your child to come in a full two hours later than your normal start time if you want to do that.

If your normal start time is 8.45am you can come at 10.45am,

9.00am come at 11am.

Please stick to these times as the gates will be closed between 9.15am and 10.45am

You can still come at normal time we will be here; all staff will be in!!!

Stay safe and enjoy the match on Sunday night!
