5 November 2021 (by Vicky)

Dear Parents/carers,

Welcome back to the first week of a new half term, this is the one we all enjoy most, lots going on and the Countdown to Christmas! Sorry, I mentioned the C word!

There is lots planned for this half term including our Curriculum Showcase where you will be invited to see what has been going on in your child’s year group during this term.

Watch out for information on this event coming very soon.

COVID

I hope that you have all seen the email sent yesterday regarding COVID and the rise in cases across the County.

I just want to reassure you again that we are doing everything we can in school to keep our children and staff safe. I am not planning to cancel anything we have planned at this point but will be watching numbers carefully and keep you updated regularly.

If you are at all worried that your child may have COVID please test. Also, if anyone in your house has COVID please test the children too.

Parent/Carer Meetings

These will take place week beginning 8th November.

As stated in the email yesterday, I ask that you do not turn up too early for your appointment as only 2 parents/carers will be allowed to wait outside the classrooms at any one time, so that the number of people in the building is limited.

These appointments are for 10 minutes and this time must be adhered to so that other parents/carers are not kept waiting.

I would also ask that you please wear a mask to come into the building and for the duration of the meeting.

Thank you for your understanding in this and we look forward to seeing you next week. The first time in a long time!!

Reminders

Parking/dropping off

I do apologise that this needs to be here again this week. I would like to thank all parents/carers who do the right thing and do not park on the zig zag lines or bus stop, for the safety of all of our children, which is the very vast majority.  Thank you.

Unfortunately, sometimes the people parking illegally do not see that they are putting the lives of children at risk and when asked to move can do nothing but be abusive.

I would like to apologise to any parents/carers and children who heard an abusive incident directed at me on Wednesday morning this week, where unacceptable language was used.

I would like to thank these parents/carers for the words of support I received.

The children in our school come first every time, their safety is of the utmost importance, and I will not stop asking selfish people to move when parked illegally. The numbers will be passed to the police.

Social media aware

I have been made aware this week that there is something on YouTube Kids called Evil Santa- telling children to get a knife. Please be aware that this may be something your children can see.

I really do despair at what goes on and often can’t believe I am writing these things to you.

Standards

Please remember that nail varnish and large hair accessories/bows and hair bands, are not allowed in school, including Nursery.

On PE days children must wear their PE t shirt not football shirts. It is not a non-uniform day.

Trainers are only allowed on these days and not on any other day.

Thank you for your support in this and the very vast majority of parents/carers who already follow these rules.
