Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely half term. At least the weather was fine- most of the time.

We have a very busy half term ahead- lots of really exciting things planned and the children preparing for their next Showcase. We are so excited to show you the outcomes for our Spring Term Projects.

As part of this there are a few events happening in the next couple of weeks:

• Year 2- Fairtrade Fair- 9^th, 10^th and 11^th March at 2.15pm -3.00pm at Entrance B
• Y1 – Non-uniform Day- Friday March 13^th to raise money for the local Aycliffe charity “Lifeline Community Action” as part of their project

Please support the children where you can.

World Book Day

Yesterday was World Book Day and the children looked brilliant in their PJs. There were lots of reading activities throughout the day and sharing of stories and favourite books. We all had a wonderful day.

Reading remains a very high focus in school and during the Summer term we are planning reading events throughout the term where parents/carers will be invited into school.

Please continue your support of the children with their reading at home, this is so important. I know that sometimes this can be difficult due to the busy lives we all lead but it is vital that children are getting the extra practice they need.

Ukraine Appeal

Our lovely parents Veronika Yanczewska and Peter Kornaki are helping to organise a local collection for items required in the Ukraine. We have already sent out an email regarding this and it has been shared onto our Facebook page. If you can help with any of the essential items on the list (please do not send anything that is not on the list) then you can send them into school next week, Monday 7^th March until Friday 11^th March at 12pm. Please drop off at the main office. I am sure you will agree that this is a very worthy cause for such a difficult situation.

Reminders

Sugar Hill Coffee Stop

The coffee stop will continue to be open every Tuesday morning this half term in the dining room from 9.05am to 10.00am. Come to Entrance B as soon as you have dropped the children off. It’s cold out there- start your day with a cuppa, toast and a chat.

School Lunch price increase

From 4^th April 2022 the price of a school lunch will rise to £2.20 per day- £11.00 per week.

Uniform

Please remember trainers are not part of school uniform. School shoes should be all black, trousers and skirts grey or black and a green sweatshirt/cardigan.
