Newsletter - Friday 25th March 2022

25 March 2022 (by Vicky)

Dear Parents/carers,

Hello everyone, another really busy week here at the Hill. And the sun is shining!

The children have been doing their assessments this week in reading, maths and writing- great to see the progress being made following the first full two terms in school since March 2020!!

Parent/carer meetings were held for those that wanted appointments. It is good to have parents/carers back in the building, it is looking so good at the moment.

Hopefully we will see everyone over the next two weeks at the showcases. The children are really excited to show their work from the Spring Term and explain their learning from their latest project.

We are all really looking forward to seeing you there.

Reminders

Office protocols

Can you please continue to ring the office in advance if you need to drop anything in - or speak to a senior member of staff at the gate?

The main entrance is used by the children until 9.05am. Please do not drop into the office before this time.

We will continue to use all three entrances for children who are late or who are picked up early for appointments. Please ring the office if you are going to be late so someone can meet you.

Thank you for your support in this.

Online and gaming

Several parents/carers have brought to our attention that in some year groups, children are playing on line and in the chat are being very unkind to each other, about others and swearing.

In some cases, this is spilling into school. This behaviour will not be tolerated in school and I would ask that you are vigilant of what your children are playing online, who they are speaking to and what is being said. We will be talking to the children about this prior to the Easter holidays. Mrs Noble will be discussing online safety/acceptable behaviour in her lessons.

PE Day and Uniform

A reminder that for PE the children wear their school tops and sweatshirts and either tracksuit bottoms or now the weather is warmer, PE shorts- these can be green, black or grey- not cycling shorts or colourful leggings. Suitable footwear needs to be worn that day too.

School start times

Please ensure that children in Y5 and Y6 are not coming to wait to go into school too early- especially if they walk to school by themselves.

This morning there were Y5 children waiting at 8.25am- their start time is 8.55am. They are waiting on a main road and are not supervised at that time by staff. Thank you for your support in this.

COVID

COVID cases are rising again.

Please remember that although there is no legal requirement to isolate with COVID, I would ask that you continue to follow the guidance- this is still 5 days isolation and then testing on day 5. When there are two negative tests together then its ok to return to school. We still need to minimise the spread and keep cases in school to a minimum.

Thank you for your support in this.

Sugar Hill Coffee Stop

The coffee stop will continue to be open every Tuesday morning this half term in the dining room from 9.05am to 10.00am. Come to Entrance B as soon as you have dropped the children off. It’s cold out there- start your day with a cuppa, toast and a chat.

School Lunch price increase

From 4th April 2022 the price of a school lunch will rise to £2.20 per day- £11.00 per week.
