Newsletter 5th September 2022

5 September 2022 (by Vicky)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back. I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday. Term starts Wednesday 7th September for Years 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. Please refer to previous information (Induction Packs) for return and start dates for Nursery and Reception children.

Please see the timetable below for start and finish times for all year groups. Please note that instead of 10 minutes to drop off there will only be a 5-minute window on a morning. This will also help with late attendance, which had been growing last term. All gates will close at 9.00am.

Please ensure the children are here on time- this is vital for learning to start as soon as they arrive.

Drop off and pick up routines will remain the same. These work very well, allowing for the safety of all children.

Home time will extend by 5 minutes. Please make sure anyone picking up knows these revised times and entrances.

Breakfast Club will start each morning at 8.20am each morning (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) in the Infant Hall and (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6) in the main dining hall. Breakfast Club will start Wednesday 7th September.

Reminders and Expectations

Uniform

The children always come back looking so smart. These are just a few reminders on uniform.

We have had lots of children wearing trainers during the Summer Term. These are not school uniform and there is an expectation that the children start in September with school shoes. These should be black.

PE kits remain the same- children come to school on their PE day in their track suit bottoms/shorts but wear their school tops/white t-shirts. The bottoms should be black, grey or green, not colourful leggings or hoodies.

We do have some good quality pre-loved uniform free on request. Please contact Mrs Legge or Mrs Atkinson Jones. If you have any uniform no longer required, we welcome donations. Thank you.

Extreme hair- including tram lines, nail varnish, jewellery and large hair accessories are also not part of the uniform. Children with pierced ears can wear small studs but these should be removed at home on PE days. Thank you for your support in this.

Attendance/Late arrivals

Attendance has been at its lowest last year across all schools and here too. Good attendance is vital and we rely on your support to have the children in school, especially after COVID, and to reinforce the clear message that low attendance really does affect the life chances of your child.

This term we will be sending all parents/carers the new Attendance Policy and new systems that will be in place. Our school expectation is at least 96% attendance. Attendance rewards will be in place. More information to follow.

Please ensure the children are in school on time- this is such an important life skill. The children are missing out on essential morning learning when they are even 5 minutes late each day. Please note that the window for arrival time has reduced to 5 minutes on a morning.

School Meals

A reminder to new Y3 parents that your child no longer qualifies for Universal Free School Meals.

Y3 parents/carers will pay on Parent Pay unless eligible for free school meals. If you feel your child may be entitled to free school meals please contact Julie Blacklock in our school office.

The price is £2.25 per meal.

If your child has an allergy all paperwork must be returned to school or they will not be allowed a school meal or take part in theme days.

Breakfast Club- PLEASE ARRIVE USING ENTRANCE B

From September all children for both EYs and KS1 breakfast club (bottom hall) and KS2 (dining room) will use the middle drive- Entrance B- and children from EYs /KS1 will walk down the path in front of the building to the KS1 hall. This is to avoid cars on the drive at Entrance C.
